I just bought this at Big Lots, of all places, for only $3. I thought that it would be more of a rocker movie, considering that Meat Loaf and Flea were in ti. It was a really good film, overall, with an amazing performance by the kid. Because it was so surreal, and the end didn't make a lot of sense to me, I have been thinking about it all day. There is almost no information about this movie anywhere on the internet that I could find. I highly recommend it, if not for the great acting and quirky mood, then for the way it will haunt your thoughts after viewing it.

What was Chandler's first name?
How did rick go to North Shore in the "summer" but when he arrives it's halloween. Big waves are Oct-Jan, yet he goes off to school (October) in the last scene.

It's so cool I found this.
Did you ever wonder WHY the ages seem to vary so wildly in the movie?
Sure, Astin is a lot older in the bizarre, uneven narration scenes (which don't make sense in the overall sense of the movie. is it a comedy? a drama? thriller? wtf?)... but why, in some scenes, is EVERYONE older, like the "peeing" scene...?

what happened? does anyone know?

why was it filmed in 1985 but not released until 1987? does anyone know what happened? this has been bugging me for ages...

I just noticed that Stains came out on DVD. I've never seen it, but it's on its way from ol' NetFlix. I did an interview with Debbie Rochon two years ago and was surprised to find out this was her first film. Can't wait to see & review it!

I think that Mr. Gold stands for fear and power. The fact that no one "sees" him increases that. Jake, however, experienced a psychiatric break and this piece is another example of the complicated system of which is our minds. The human psyche is so expansive and unknown that it is able to trick itself. Self awareness can even be a trick in itself, it's all a catch twenty- two.
